Before downloading

Confirm you are working on a supported Windows 11 computer.
Create a restore point and back up important files.
Review the official repository and release information.
Scan the file and compare a published SHA-256 value when one is available.
Do not disable Windows Security solely to run a download.

Administrator access

WinUtil can make system-level changes and may require elevation. Administrator approval increases the impact of any code you run. Inspect the source, verify the origin, and close the tool if the requested action is unclear.

Verification

Record the file name, size, source, download time, and SHA-256 hash. A hash confirms that two files are identical; it does not by itself prove that a file is safe. Use the official repository, Windows Security, and independent reputation checks together.

Windows 10 notice

This site’s current instructions focus on Windows 11. Windows 10 reached end of support for most editions on October 14, 2025, and is not presented here as a supported WinUtil target.
